Michael Jackson is the most celebrated pop star worldwide.  It made sense for Ubisoft to create a game that allows everyone to share the unique talent of the late pop star.

Michael Jackson: The Experience  makes learning the well known moves as easy as 1, 2, 3. When playing the game in dance mode, you’ll see Michael’s performance and the upcoming moves to the left of the screen. However, I would recommend focusing on Michael and his glove because he moves very swiftly. This game does not require you to learn any button patterns. All you need is the motion of the Wii controller in your right hand and you are ready to become as fancy as Michael.

You are allowed to link up to four Wii controllers. However, the game does not pick up all of your movement accurately. With that flaw aside, it is still hard not to receive a decent score. The game allows the players to choose from a nice selection of your favorite Michael Jacksons’ songs. The song list includes:

  • Bad
  • Beat it
  • Billie Jean
  • Black or White
  • Dirty Diana
  • Don’t Stop ‘Till You Get Enough
  • Earth Song
  • Ghosts
  • Heal the World
  • In the Closet
  • Leave Me Alone
  • Money
  • Remember the Time
  • Rock With You
  • Smooth Criminal
  • Speed Demon
  • Streetwalker
  • Sunset Driver
  • The Girl is Mine
  • The Way you Make Me Feel
  • They Don’t Care About Us
  • Thriller
  • Wanna Be Startin’ Something
  • Who Is It
  • Will You Be There
  • Workin’ Day and Night

Each song has one to two modes which range from easy to hard. However, “Thriller” is the only song with the “inhuman” mode. Most of the song selections also allows you to choose to dance as Michael or a back-up dancer. Every song selection places you in the actual music video background for a more realistic feel. The design of each background was done with perfection. However, the avatars face could use a lot of work.

During the dance mode of your selected choice, you are judge by the accuracy of your moves. These scores are rated with an “X”, “OK”, “Good”, Perfect” and a “Gold Move”. The score bar is also located to the left of the screen. The score also determines how many stars you’ll receive for your performance. The stars you receive unlock the training videos which are located in the school mode.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, Michael Jackson:  The Experience™ for the Wii is a great game whether it’s for yourself or family fun.  You’ll dance the night away and feel the pain of the hidden workout in the morning.
Final Score: This game gets an 8 out of 10.
