GamerFitNation Presents Cathlin Sentz as True Gamer of the Week.

A little about Cathlin. I work for HAVAmedia as the Community Manager for N4G.com and Admin for the NewsBoiler Network – currently home to N4G, TechSpy, AnimeShinbun, FilmWatch and 11×2. That means I get to write, interact with members, go to conferences and game – I like to say that I work for people I’ve never met in a place that doesn’t exist with a community of people the world over that are completely apart. Playing games got me into this crazy job, and hanging out with the people that love them is why I do what I do! Gamers are a passionate crowd, and more diverse and interesting than popular media gives us credit for! I’m an artist and literature nerd, love to cook and eat, watch movies and F1, and while you’ll never see me with a hint of a tan I love horseback riding and the great outdoors! You can visit my blog at CatPlaysGames.com, find me on Twitter @Cathlin and @N4G, and of course I’ll see you on N4G!

Gaming systems Owned: The first one I remember owning was Atari (thanks, Dad!), and I want to give a special thanks to my best friend in grade school, Jessie, for all those hours in Toe Jam & Earl, but the first one I bought on my own came later – Nintendo64. There was a dark time my freshman year in college when I was mostly using friend’s systems, but now I know the unutterable joy of being all grown up and awash in consoles, laptops, iPads – basically my own tech tornado.
The game that sparked your interest in Gaming: The first games I have vivid memories of playing are Duck Hunt and Mario Brothers, and most of those memories are because I was playing with my cousins. Tag-teaming through Mario, that was the original multi- player as a kid! Later, games like Myst and Zelda blew my mind, end of.

Keep it up - so many gamers are fit, working on getting fit or want to be more fit. The idea that being a gamer necessitates an unhealthy lifestyle isn't true - so keep proving those lame stereotypes wrong! - Cathlin

Workout regimen and eating habits: Whatever my trainer tells me! I’m an avid pedestrian, and I do weight and resistance training three times a week, yoga three times a week. I love food and cooking, so I avoid processed foods and eat healthy foods that I love most of the time – and then I don’t worry about things like dessert, cheese, that fresh loaf of bread…mmm!
Health wise what are you goals: I don’t take good health for granted, and staying fit, feeling good – feeling like I can tackle anything – that’s what I want, that’s why I work out.
Advice to gamers who are struggling with weight issues: Don’t get overwhelmed, it’s a grind. Get a trainer, join a gym – accountability is key!

Opinion on the current motion technology: The current motion control tech has been a part of my gaming life like Rock Band and Guitar Hero – great for parties, for non-gaming friends, but not a big part of my regular gaming.
Opinion on the gaming industry and how they handle health: I honestly don’t think it’s the industry’s responsibility – it would be like going to a ball game and not being able to order nachos because there’s a public stigma that the fans are too fat. People should be responsible for themselves, whatever their interests.

GamerFitNation would like to thank Cathlin for taking time out of her busy schedule to let us into her world. Welcome to the club.
