That’s right, you read it right. With the recent addition of running water and this newfangled electricity thing in Canada, the great people at PlayStation Canada held their 2011 Holiday Event in downtown Toronto. So needless to say, as soon as I heard about this event I fueled up the snowmobile and packed my bags and made the voyage across the frozen tundra to the big city. Upon my arrival I was welcomed with open arms (Literally, I had Ratchet waiting for me at the door!) and set to work on checking out some of Sony’s latest technology and grabbed a sneak peek at some of their up and coming hits for this holiday season. And here’s what I found.
As soon as I got in I couldn’t help myself but to go straight to the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception booth. It was here that I had the opportunity to play some of the single player campaign, a level that very few have had the pleasure of playing yet. Luckily for you guys though, the wait is well worth it! Never playing the series before I was quite drawn to it immediately and can understand the obsession! Be sure to check out the hands on by @myasharona which will be coming soon!
Next up I got to spend a little one on one time with the new PlayStation Vita. I can easily say that PlayStation has outdone themselves with this little piece of technology. Its everything they say it is and more. I got to play Little Big Planet on the Vita, and to make it even better I got to do so with one of the actual developers who talked me through the whole thing! It was amazing! I can’t wait to tell you more about it in my upcoming article! So stay tuned.
Unfortunately I had to let other people play with the Vita as well, so I moved along and checked out the Sony Personal 3D Viewer. You all remember virtual boy
don’t you? The brief attempt at a gaming headset by Nintendo back in the early 90’s? Well picture that, but with the amazing quality and graphics that you expect from Sony. I have a ton more to talk about on this item later this week.
Once the headset came off I decided to try my hand at being a rock star. I strapped on a guitar, got a crash course in the game from one of the creators and then totally rocked out to some Nirvana. The game, called Rocksmith was an instant hit for me and I intend to purchase it for myself as soon as it comes out. So keep your eyes open for my upcoming thoughts and maybe even a few tips!
You would think by now I would be pretty exhausted, but PlayStation knows how to throw a party. After chowing down on some good food and fueling up on some caffeine I was able to push on through. This was the perfect time to challenge my editor MyaSharona and 4 others to the new Twisted Metal. I’ll give you one guess on who came out on top! This guy ?
With our free reign of the event coming to an end before 100s of local gamers would let loose on the event I was able to sneak in a bit of time playing all the various demos set up by PlayStation, I got to check out their 3D-Tvs, and also tested out some PlayStation Move games.
Follow me @nicfurlong to check out my thoughts on Rocksmith, Sony’s 3D Personal Viewer, 3D-Tvs and the Vita which will all be coming soon!
