True Gamer of the Week: Charles “Mr. Fanatic” AKA Fanatical G

GamerFitNation presents Charles AKA Fanatical G as True Gamer of the week!

I absolutely love it. Didn't know much about you guys until our paths crossed at E3 this year. Love the fact that you guys have carved a good niche for yourself within the industry. TGF and GFN for life haha!- Fanatical G

A Little about Fanatical G. I’m a fulltime college student and freelance graphic designer. I love art, I love technology, and I enjoy playing video games. I created The Game Fanatics (www.thegamefanatics.com) to bring gamers together, by providing relevant news and unbiased reviews from real gamers. Of course contests and giveaways help, we do a lot of those too :)

I own a pretty sweet custom gaming rig, a Wii, and a PS3. Also have a few GBA’s and my GameCube and NES laying around somewhere…

The game that sparked your interest in Gaming:

Duck Hunt for the NES is probably the first game I remember playing. Ah, good times! The N64 in itself really got me gaming. Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart, James Bond 64, Smash Bros, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo Tooie, Cruis’n USA…I kinda got sidetracked with this question haha.

What keeps you gaming:

Being a fulltime student and working, I don’t have much time to game anymore, but when I do it’s a moment of relaxation where my mind is kind of on chill mode and I can release some stress :) .

Workout regimen and eating habits:

Alright, here’s where I make a confession right? I used to work out pretty religiously when I played football, but that ended about 3 years ago. I just started getting back into the swing of things at the gym though; living an active life is something I strongly believe in. As far as eating habits, I’m not a breakfast person, I usually eat a fruit or a bowl of cereal in the mornings, then snacks in between my lunch and dinner. Being someone who did struggle with weight issues as a kid, I learned that taming my appetite was the key to eating what I want and still staying healthy.

Advice to gamers who are struggling with weight issues:

I’d say to put down the games and get active. Easier said than done yes, but you’d be surprised what can be achieved by sheer willpower. Skip the cake (which is a lie) and go for a yogurt instead, dust off the Wii and play a few rounds of simple WiiSports or get the Zumba workout (which is great). It’s the little things that help you build the habit of staying active, you’ll really be surprised.

Health wise what are your goals:

This school semester I’ve been on track to lose 20lbs. I know people may scoff at that, but for someone who intends to eat whatever I want, I believe it’s a decent goal. On that note I’ll also like to be more involved with sports again, I actually plan on starting a regular basketballroutine next week.

Opinion on Health and Gaming:

Before our generation it would have been absurd to see both words complement each other in the same sentence, but huge props to Nintendo for revolutionizing both with the Wii. The stereotype of “gamers” as a whole needs to be destroyed, and that’s why I love GamerFitNation, showing that there are gamers who value a good workout and lead active, healthy lifestyles.

Opinion on the current motion technology i.e Playstation Move:

I pretty much touched on this above. If you read some of the articles I wrote back in the day when we still called the Kinect Project Natal, you’d see that I was a huge skeptic of the whole motion gaming movement. Now I love it. Of course I still rock my regular controllers but from time to time it’s nice to change things up and use the Move controllers. That being said, it’s going to be an interesting new console cycle with all these motion technologies having been introduced to us.

GamerFitNation would like to welcome Fanatical G to the club.

there’s no such thing as True Gamer, so stop this sh… now.
a gamer is a gamer man. They are divided into two groups- Casual Gamer and Core gamer.
No such thing as True gamer.

If I call myself a True Christian, what makes me think I am different than other Christians? such I may devote my time more than others but in the end we worship the same God so that eventually makes me a Christian like everybody else not a True christian.

I guess people who rob, steal, rape, kill can also label themselves as true right?
“oh cool, I’m a True Robber because I’ve been robbing people since I was 9″.

A gamer who games 5 hours a week is no different to a gamer who games 20 hours. What makes them difference is that one has more free time while the other has less free time. In the end they do the same thing: ‘game’

    stop this sh* now!

it seems that you fail to read what the idea of true is and im saddened by that. Not because of your statement but because you read the title so selectively that you missed the purpose of what a True Gamer is. True Gamer will never stop as long as their are people that portray the traits of what a Ture Gamer is.

i don’t need to read the whole article. I am pointing at the purpose of the article “True Gamer” which is completely flawed!

There is NO such thing as True, people who call themselves True only do so to differentiate themselves from others who perform similar things. Just because you dedicate more time into a subject doesn’t mean you are the true definition of that subject.
True doesn’t mean anything, your achievement just means you have more time and dedication to that subject and it doesn’t make you true at anything.

Under the topic- Gamer Fit nation.
If you go to the gym as you normally work out and trying to get in shape. You see a guy next to you so ripped like Arnold. Would you call him a true gym workout because he achieved something of a goal you are trying to meet? No, it just means he has more time and dedication to working out at the gym than you.

A gamer is a gamer. Just because you know what E3 means and I don’t doesn’t make you a true gamer. It just means you are more knowledgeable in the gaming industry, in the end we are both gamers.

I guess people who learn physic and learnt the topic of Quantum Physics are true physicians because they know about time, gravity, quantum theory and you don’t.

Give me a break, there is no such thing as True ‘subject’.

GamerFitNation should axe this sh* and call it something else. Why don’t you just put “gamer of the week”. That is so much acceptable to the gaming community. Rather than “true gamer” of the week because it puzzles so many viewers “why is this person a true gamer and I’m not?” or “what makes this gamer more better than me?”

if you cant read the whole article before you answer than i can’t bother to read your “whole” response to an assumption.

If you don’t like what we have to say you can always go to  http://davido.blog.com/ where you’ll find a indepth look into the gaming live style of the average gamer. :)

@Bible Black- True Gamer definition doesn’t exist and it sounds pathetic.
What makes you True at something? because you achieve more than others under the same subject? no it is because you dedicate more time to that subject.

You can call me an average gamer all you want or “true gamer”, I call myself a hardcore|core gamer because I know and do more than a casual gamer does.

Here’s a scenario you should figure out:A family man with 4 kids and full time job who doesn’t have time to try out new games thus needs to work 50-60 hours a week in order to feed his family; yet the man knows about conventions and next games coming out. Would you call him a True Gamer?

in the end, your logic title True Gamer fails because there is no such thing.

and my blog is focused on me learning Game Design course.
If you really want to challenge my gaming life style, check out my Trophies+Achievements+Youtube videos.

p.s no such thing as True gamer, quit your masquerade!

I’m sorry after reading your blog (which doesn’t exist) I realize you are a person simply speaking out of Envy. You didn’t come here asking “why it is?” You came here simply to say “why you’re not.” Here’s the thing if I felt like you would actually listen to reason I would sit down and actually explain it all to you but see as I believe you are simple here to troll out of envy. I’ve decided I’ll simply just ignore you and allow you to disappear as future True Gamers eclipse your one time obsession.

your using one definition of the word true, there are many. Like:”Exactly conforming to a rule, standard, or pattern” A rule, standard or pattern set out by GFN,

You are entitled to your opinion, and I respect your point of view, but please be open to opinions of others if you are so willing to share your own on a public forum.
