Today’s bestselling video games employ the most cutting edge technology, the best graphic artists in the world, amazing cinematography, and have millions of dollars at their disposal. So if I said there was a game out there for $21.95 that has the graphics of your 1985 NES, and involves you placing blocks to build structures to keep you safe at night. Would you buy it?
Well 3,500,000 people have so far, and the game is still in beta! The response to this game has been incredible. As I mentioned, the game is about placing square blocks to build structures to keep you safe at night from all the monsters that spawn and roam your world. And when I say world, I mean it. You actually start the game in an uninhabited world with rivers, oceans, mountains and forests. What makes the game so fun and addictive is that you get to shape this world. It’s up to you what you do to this world. You can build towers, castles, sky scrapers, cities, or whatever your heart desires.
There are currently two game modes that you can play Minecraft in:
Survival
This mode involves you starting the game with nothing except your bare hands. You have to gather resources, find shelter and basically survive. It’s up to you to craft tools and weapons, along with gathering supplies to keep you alive. Once it gets dark, monsters will spawn and you must defend yourself against these monsters.
Creative
Creative mode is for the players that just want to build. They don’t have to worry about monsters, gathering food, and all supplies are given to them without having to gather them. They are free to build as they please.
Each game type is fun and addictive and what makes it even better is that you can go online and play in multiplayer servers. You can work together with your friends, or compete with other groups to build amazing cities. Not to mention the incredible mod support by the Minecraft community who have already created 100’s of mods for the game to allow you to do almost anything from enable cars, airplanes, and even add currency/trading systems into the game.
As I mentioned this game is still in Beta and is currently at version 1.8. The team at Mojang is still working on this game and intends on adding another game type to the mix, along with a lot more content for the game. Including NPC’s (Non player characters) that you can interact with.
I for one am very excited for the future releases of this game and cannot wait for the games completion. So why not lose yourself in another world and check this game out!?
Currently you can only get the game off of their website which is found here:
