Ubisoft’s Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 is the sequel to my personal favorite “Your shape Fitness Evolved” this title has improved in every single way and has incorporated new workouts and features to make it twice as great. Will this game make you quit the gym and encourage more in home workouts? Find out in our review!
Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 is the perfect gift for your after holiday meal binging. If you think P90x is a rigorous workout, than be on the lookout for Your Shape Fitness 2012. There are a ton of things that you can do in the offline mode such as collect medals and badges for activities that you can complete. There are a ton of new workouts which can viewed in the bulleted section below that really shows how this game has vastly improved and incorporated new elements.
The true fun experience for this game comes from its online experience. The online is great as you can enter the Your Shape Center. This uses Uplay which allows gamers to gain points in order to gain access to additional content. The benefits of the Your Shape Center are actually quite good on a personal level. I really liked the fact that I could compare myself with my friends and how well they did on certain activities. I tend to be a perfectionist and stat hungry person, so this aspect of the game really sparked my competitive nature. You can now monitor how you are doing on challenges, join events, and participate in ongoing events. It’s honestly a great refreshing experience.
If you’re the type of person that thinks they can find ways to cheat in a fitness title, than shame on you. You will honestly be missing out a lot, if you just play this title for the achievements. It’s fun and can help keep you in great shape. Although Your Shape Fitness 2012 offers a lot with new gameplay mechanics and online offering this isn’t a replacement for your traditional gym. I know I may say that it’s great for working out, but only as an alternative to the real thing. Feel free to incorporate this into a new workout routine or substitute it for a fun day with a significant other.
List of new workouts:
The Kinect does its job well in tracking your body movements. New to this year’s virtual iteration is the incorporation of ground workouts. Now you can do jump roping, African dance, pushups, and abdominal workouts. These workouts provide exciting and varied ways of burning calories and helping to maintain fitness. As you progress further into the game you will unlock new and fun workouts. These new workouts can range across a vast variety of classes such as Zen, cardio boxing, yoga, and other activities that offer many physical options. Don’t fret however as you won’t be alone in mastering your new workouts and forms. In each workout you unlock, your trainer will be there to help guide you along the way. You will be able to train each of the new exercises in sub-sections, which will allow you to master the new workouts.
In the original Your Shape Fitness Evolved the game required you to have a lot of room. The only real issue that I had with the previous game was living in the city. In the previous title, since the game tracked your shape (no pun intended) clothes had an effect on the Kinect tracking. This is not the case with Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012; the tracking is vastly improved and aids in getting you fit all in the comfort of your home. New Year’s resolutions can now be completed without spending extra money on a gym membership.
This title is great for people that like to run like myself. The game allows you to run within a recreated 3D map that encourages you to progress further and further throughout it. Now you can get your cardio and enjoy it too! Here is a list of the new key features present in Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012
