My Thoughts on the Resident Evil 6 Story-line

The internet was set ablaze two Fridays ago, when Capcom announced that Resident Evil 6 would be released later this year. As a Fan of the game I was tremendously impressed with what I saw in the trailer and I also had a few questions about the story-line that would be included in the game. The story in Resident Evil is great unlike the unrelated awful movies.

This time around it looks like you travel around different environments and areas. Chris Redfield is in China; Leon Kennedy is supposed to be protecting the president and there is a third character whose name we don’t know yet, in an unknown area. I have a couple of ideas surrounding the reasoning behind the 3 different characters environments. It seems to me that the game will have 3 distinct play styles. The three styles seem like survival horror, action horror, and a mix of the two for the third unknown character. It honestly made sense to me by taking a look at the undertone within the trailer.

In the trailer what we saw from Leon seemed to have a really terrifying aspect of it. The fact that the President turns into a zombie and we are shown the image of him all zombified, showed me a horror aspect that was reminiscent of RE 4 and 2. As we progress further into the trailer we see Chris in China and it looks like it is pretty action packed. It leads me to believe that Leon’s story line will be more survival horror and Chris’s story seems like it will be action centered. The only logical explanation that I can give for the third character is a mixture of the two because we really don’t have much info on him at this current time.

It also looks to me that there will be different types of infected people or zombies this time around.  There may actually be zombies this time if you look at it from Leon’s side of the story. The infected people or zombies look like the ones that are similar in RE 4 and RE 5. The third playable character if we follow what the trailer is indicting might allude that he might have the cure for the virus in his blood or so we are lead to think. Now, I only have one question about this game. What happened to Claire Redfield?!  I really liked Claire, but we haven’t seen her in a Resident Evil game since Code Veronica or the animated movie that launched a few years back. I really wish that they would bring her back, I mean am I the only that feels this way?

Lastly, there is no doubt in my mind that Resident Evil 6 is going to be a must own game when it is released in November. The ability to have 3 multiple distinct story-lines and maybe 3 different types of gameplay styles has this looking like one of the best games in the franchise. Will Capcom be able to deliver, only time will tell.
