On Thursday March 22, Nintendo and Gamestop at 84th and Broadway teamed up to hold the finals for the Kid Icarus: Uprising Tournament. The event began and was open to the public at 10am and ended around 9pm. Gamestop handed out free T-shirts and 3DS scan cards for the Kid Icarus game to anyone who stepped into the store. There was also a Kid Icarus food truck just outside the Gamestop handing out free food to anyone who tweeted #KIDICARUS, but the big stars of the night were the finalists from Orlando FL, Los Angeles CA, San Francisco CA and of course the finalist from New York. Before the major finale, the NYC tournament began. Kids from all over the tri-state area blindly competed against each other on a 3v3 team battle to finally crown the three winners for New York City.
There were three stations for the contestants of the tournament to experience. The First station was a single player game demo to get a feel of the game. Next was the multiplayer station. Players got a chance to briefly practice the multiplayer mode before their competing game. In the final station, players battled head to head to declare the winners.
