Looks like two of Japan’s hottest franchises are coming together to bring us a brand new and epic game. Nobunaga’s Ambition and Pokemon are teaming up to create a new kind of strategy game. This crazy crossover title is going to be named Pokemon Conquest. Previously described as “the craziest Pokemon game” or “the weirdest Pokemon game” to ever be announced.
The story is a little different then what everyone is already used to. Your main character is a young samurai warlord in feudal Japan. Not only that but you are given allies to strengthen your teams abilities and also help represent your kingdom. This game seems to be similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. Your Pokemon are scattered across a playing board where a 6 on 6 battle should develop. The attacks are turn based just like in Pokemon and Final Fantasy Tactics and you must choose the correct Pokemon type in order to inflict as much damage as possible on to your opponent.
Personally, I think this is a great step in the franchise. Sure Pokemon is infamously known for their handheld gaming style, but adding this new twist to the gameplay and story, it should get some old fans to get back into the new game. There are currently 493 Pokemon in the franchise’s existence, I am excited to see what comes next for Pokemon.
Pokemon Conquest will be hitting the Nintendo DS and the western hemisphere on June 18th 2012.
