E3 2012 is the mecca for the newest and latest technology seen on the planet. When you think of that and the name Astro, you already know what to expect. Great design, technology, and sound, that even the most delicately crated studio headsets cannot compare to. I recently got a chance to test out these beautiful seductive headsets and I have to say, my first time trying an Astro product will not be the last time. Enjoy our Preview of the Astro A50 Wireless Headset.
The Astro A50 wireless headset is the newest line from one of the best headset making companies on the market. There is no commercialism here as they have created a headset for Gaming that essential brings a home entertainment system right onto your ears. The crystal clear sounds that are heard while playing a game like Battlefield 3 makes you feel as if your senses have become increasingly better if not super human. Imagine hearing the instinctive chatter of enemies in the background or the explosions and gunfire of your allies. It heightens all sound as if you were in a movie theatre. The best part is that there are three custom settings that you can adjust on the headset, that allows you to cater the sound on the headset to your liking. It is amazingly breathtaking by how the sound effects your gameplay experience.
Most people have issues with interference when using wireless devices. I can honestly tell you that with the Astro A50 Wireless Headset there is no such thing. In our preview, we had 3 cell phones around the device and not once did we hear any interference with our headsets interrupting the connection between the MixAmp and sound quality. This is a huge plus for me as I have had my fair share of interference with wireless devices, which can become an annoyance after a while. This is mainly because this device operates at a higher frequency than other devices, which is absolutely great. The MixAmp 5.8 technology allows you to be your own master of sound as you have a knob that can control the master volume between the game and voice chat. The MixAmp is the perfect tool to cut down on all of that pre-pubescent chatter from children-when they get those cheap kills on you in Call of Duty. It is great because it allows you the option to hear both voice/gameplay of whatever game you are playing or each individually. It provides convenience and elegance all at once. This is something that Astro has prided themselves on with the A30’s, A40’s and now with the Astro A50 Wireless Headset.
I have talked about the sound and improvements of this device, which makes this headset superb. There is one thing I have not mentioned and that is the quality and design. This is a very ergonomic headset. As gamers and consumers, chatting on a microphone or headset we tend to flick the microphone up in an effort to differ sound so people do not hear what we are saying. Astro has created a solution to this. A uni-directional microphone that when flipped up, it automatically mutes for you. This takes all the pains out of finding, pushing, or flicking a switch to put the device in mute. The device feels smooth and comfortably fits around your head. I do not want sound cliché, but it really does fit like a glove. The headset has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery system, which can be charged via USB. You can place the headset on the display stand that is included with your Astro A50 Wireless Headset to make other people envious. They are just that cool.
Finally, if you cannot wait for the Astro A50 Wireless Headset than look no, further. They will start shipping in late July. You can pre-order them here for $299.99 and while that might be high to some; it is well worth the amount for its quality, sound, and wireless technology to name a few. This is a headset that is worthy of the gods.
