This past Saturday on July 21, 2012 in Harlem, NYC was the most glamorous dancing event of 2012. We hosted our first annual Dancetopia and are proud to say, that we surpassed our goal of 250 attendees with a grand total of 313 people throughout the day. If you did not get a chance to attend than you missed all of the fun that we had and all of the prizes that were given away. Companies such as Astro, Microsoft, Vizio, GamerGrub, etc…. all helped us out in sponsoring the event. For this support, we cannot thank them enough. Looking back at the event, we had many fun times, saw friendly faces, and heard great stories. Here is an overview of what went down.
Dancetopia was hosted at the Twenty-First Century Academy For Community Leadership in Harlem NYC. The gymnasium was decorated with streamers and Zumba® Fitness posters all around highlighting one of the great fitness titles that children would be able to play at the event. As soon as the event started, we opened the doors and people began to march in. Many people enjoyed their first time playing with the Kinect and were instantly hooked. Titles that were fan favorites were Dance Central 2, Just Dance 3, Just Dance Kids and The Black Eyed Peas: The Experience. All of the titles we had on display were awesome but those are some of the games, which our attendees raved about. Chelsee?ann is our first winner of Dancetopia winning her first video game console and accompanied with titles like Zumba® Fitness Rush and Michael Jackson The Experience.
If you do not believe how much fun we had, just watch the video that is posted below with an interview with some of the parents and children of Dancetopia 2012. I have to say that it was a truly an honor to be a part of an event that gave back to the community and to show people how gaming and health can contribute to achieving our overall health goals. Remember; if you did not get a chance to attend the event, this year do not worry. Dancetopia is an annual event and will be back next summer! Enjoy the video of yours truly getting down on the dance floor with these awesome lovable kids.
