As announced on Playstation.Blog, there have been some reveals for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale since Gamescom has begun.
The first two characters that were added to the star-studded roster are Ratchet and Clank. “Given the wealth of tools and gadgets at their disposal, it made perfect sense to include them in our roster,” says the blog. “We made sure that iconic Ratchet and Clank weapons such as the Combusto Pistol, the R.Y.N.O., and Tesla Spikes are available for players to utilize on the battlefield.”
Also included in the reveal is Spike from Sony Computer Entertainment’s franchise Ape Escape. The character was on the game makers’ radar early on as he is a PlayStation favorite and because of Ape Escapes revolutionary game play using the first dual shock controller. According to the blog, “He’s a well-rounded character that can compete at close range, or from a distance with traps and projectiles, including the classic R.C. Car. He comes brandishing not only his signature stun clubs, but also peculiar gadgets, crazy weapons, and, of course, apes!”
From Capcom’s Devil May Cry, the next character revealed was Dante. His rich history and fascinating play style made him vital to the All-Star cast. Fans of the game will be able to pit their favorite demon hunter against Kratos and Heihachi. “Dante’s offensive capabilities and mobility allow players to be creative in their assault, ensuring Devil May Cry fans will feel right at home hacking, slashing, and shooting their rivals into oblivion with devastating weaponry and stylish combos,” the blog says.
Also entering the fray is LittleBigPlanet’s Sackboy from Media Molecule. As a fan favorite, the inclusion only seemed natural. Sackboy will be gifted with a plethora of items and gadgets and a quirky moveset that will enable him to stand out from the rest of the competition. According to the blog, “He can produce various objects, gadgets, and tools that have varying effects when in play, affording him a distinct playstyle that is likely to catch foes off guard.”
The blog also announced a new level, Stowaways, which was taken from Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Long-range and close-quarters combats will challenge players in this unique level. Those who are quick adapters will have an edge in this game. Elements from another franchise will be mashed up with the Uncharted-level.
