Music or tunes have a way of making people go through all kinds of emotions, it helps people live in the moment and experience by way of sound. Not only does music help us experience emotions and live in the moment, it simply helps us live. According to researchers at the University of Maryland’s School of Medicine Study, your favorite music can boost a person’s heart health. The research team at the University of Maryland found that joyful music—which by definition, can mean different genres for different people—is linked with dilation of the blood vessels’ inner lining.
This study consisted of ten healthy, non-smoking volunteers. When a person was listening to their favorite songs, the diameter of the blood vessels grew 26 percent, while the opposite happened when a person listened to songs they disliked, decreasing the diameter by 6 percent.
The type of music you listen to doesn’t have to be any particular genre; it’s up to you, just as long as it’s music that you like. Whether you’re going out for a run, driving on the road, cleaning, or just playing video games; remember to listen to some of your favorite songs, it’s good for you!
