Most Halloween treats aren’t generally the healthiest. They’re usually candies, which are filled with sugar and ultimately lower your health. Instead of giving out candy this year, here are some healthy alternatives. Most of the items listed could be bought in bulk and could be packaged in small baggies. The best part is that aside from being healthy, they’re also delicious! Consider giving some of these five Halloween treats when you have visitors coming at your door!

Trail Mix

This treat generally has tons of different seeds, nuts, dry berries, and even yogurt. Most of these are all low in calories and offer different nutrients. Dried cranberries offer fiber and sunflower seeds offer Vitamin E . Depending on what you add to the trail mix bag, you’ll be adding all sorts of nutrients for those who come trick-or-treating at your door.

Bite Size Pretzels

These may be a little deceiving since they’re filled with salt, but bite size pretzels actually contain ten percent of niacin and thiamin (both minerals). Also one ounce of these bite size pretzels contains thirty-seven percent of the recommended daily allowance of manganese.

Low-fat Cheese Strings

Low-fat cheese generally contains 160mg of sodium which is seven percent of the recommended daily intake. And one piece of low-fat cheese string contains 6g of protein, which repairs and regenerates damaged tissues.

Granola

Granola helps lower blood pressure, prevent anemia, and lower cholesterol. Most people love granola because you can get all those health benefits in one delicious snack.

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are a great way of lowering cholesterol, preventing kidney stones, and even treating depression because pumpkin seeds contain L-tryptophan, which is a compound used against depression.
