Gamer Fit Nation had the opportunity to get an early look at the sci-fi adventure movie, Cloud Atlas, directed by Lana Wachowski, Andy Wachowski, and Tom Tykwer. Based on the best-selling novel by David Mitchell, this incredibly enchanting tale of everlasting relationships illustrates a perpetual circle of life and that spans over 500 years and across the universe. I’ll just come right out and say it, this is an AMAZING picture. A must see!
Academy Award winners Tom Hanks and Halle Berry are just two members of the films’ star studded cast. Actors Hugh Grant and Susan Sarandon, as well as other notable and familiar faces, also grace the screen. What makes this film so amazing is its ability to keep the viewer engaged and on pace while it tells multiple stories over multiple time periods, all while using the same actors to play a variety of characters in the movie. The combination of excellent writing alongside flawless acting is masterful.
I’m keeping this review very brief because I really want people to go see this movie and experience the journey for themselves. As independent films tend to be a hit or a miss, I walked in with a bit of apprehension regarding how it would stand up to my production expectations. However, with over a 100 million dollar budget to work with, it’s one of the most expensive independent films of all time, and viewers will immediately notice the production value, from the massive futuristic worlds, to the beautifully constructed soundtrack. Great movie, two thumbs up, and a must see!
