On October 24th, Gamer Fit Nation stepped inside NYC’s Ripley’s Believe It Or Not with PopCap Games and The American Dental Association to STOP ZOMBIE MOUTH! PopCap realized that over the last few years it had gained the attention of children and adults alike with their hit game, Plants vs. Zombies. As Halloween approached, they recognized a unique opportunity to bring awareness to families about the effects of eating large amounts of sugar, as well as having poor dental hygiene. Partnering with the American Dental Association, they plan to promote healthy eating habits, along with providing healthy treat alternatives during the holiday season.
A recent ADA/PopCap Halloween Consumer Study revealed that 65% of U.S. children think Halloween the best holiday of the year, and even more (66%) consider “getting lots of candy” to be the best part. On average, a single child receives 90 pieces of candy on Halloween!
However, 78% of kids agree that too much candy is bad for them, 89% said they’d still enjoy Halloween if it were less about candy and more about other types of fun, and 93% said they’d rather receive a video game than a piece of candy while trick-or-treating.
So there you have it. Kids love games and trust me, they’ll hate cavities. Join PopCap Games and The ADA in the fight to, STOP ZOMBIE MOUTH!!!
