Is Gunslinger The Game Call of Juarez Fans Have Been Waiting For?

While the Call of Juarez was an overall riveting experience, it fell flat with its third entry, Call of Juarez: The Cartel. Compared to its predecessors, The Cartel lacked the gameplay, storyline and overall feel you get from playing Call of Juarez games. The gameplay was the biggest issue; I didn’t feel it to be as fast paced as previous games. Story-wise I think the game focused too much on theatrics than actually having a good storyline, I would personally rather play a game that has a good story as opposed to a game where everything blows up. Call of Juarez always seemed to give me the feeling that I was in the Wild West, it was a nice mental escape, the whole Western theme is the reason I ever tried the original Call of Juarez, it wasn’t because of the graphics – because those sucked, but at least the gameplay made up for it. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger seems to have all of that it was missing in the previous title, everything that made Call of Juarez that lovable game is was. While it seemed that the dismay critically panned game seemed to hush any new development for a while, Ubisoft announced a new game to the Call of Juarez franchise that looks to appeal back to the fans, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.

According to the official trailer, the game appears to be returning to its old roots, and back to the Old West. This is definitely a relief; while I’ll give them the credit for trying something new with the Cartel, the whole western theme is the key concept that attracts gamers to Call of Juarez. Nothing brings more excitement in a gaming world full of modern or fantasy setting than seeing goo ol’ pistols, shotguns, bandits, dueling and wanted posters. So far , the game play looks like it will be as swift as it was in previous games. The fact that John Wesley Hardin, Billy the Kid and Jesse James are going to be featured in the game is definitely something to look forward to since they are big names from the era of the Wild West. Let’s just hope that this is the answer we’ve been looking for after Cartel.

Check out the trailer for yourself and let us know how you think Gunslinger will turn out!
