Every gamer loves to sit down in front of their console or computer with a snack or two. Unfortunately, the snacks gamers choose are usually very unhealthy. This is the reason gamers are normally perceived as overweight and lazy. Here is a list of the top 5 snacks to avoid while gaming, with some healthy substitutes.
Chips are probably the most common “go to” snack for gamers but they are fried in oil and are loaded with saturated fats and carbs. Instead of reaching for chips try some flavored almonds.’Blue Diamond’ makes almonds in flavors such as salt & vinegar and Blazin’ Buffalo Wing. These almonds are not only delicious but also nutritious!
Soda is another favorite for gamers, that is full of sugar. To avoid this try to replace soda with water. If this is too hard, start off with some diet soda and slowly transition to just water. If you just do not like the taste of plain water or miss the fizz of soda, try fruit flavored water or seltzer water.
While candy is an easy and convenient snack, it contains large amounts of sugar. Instead, how about taking some time before you start playing to cut up some fresh fruits like apples, melons, or pineapple. This will help you get more nutrients from your diet while satisfying your sweet tooth!
4. Pizza Rolls
Pizza rolls are easy to make and even easier to overeat. Instead of eating an entire package of pizza rolls, try to make a bagel pizza on a whole wheat bagel. Use a little pizza sauce and cheese before popping your creation in the toaster oven. Bagels are very filling so you will feel full faster and are less likely to overeat.
Popcorn is another snack that is easy to overeat. Instead of popcorn try some celery and carrot sticks with some low fat ranch dressing. This will give you something to snack on without packing on the calories.
