The champions have been crowned

Capcom Cup 2013 concluded last night with various epic battles among the echelons of Capcom’s Fighters where Sako, NYChris G and INFILTRATION are crowned number 1. It is one tournament that many will talk about for a while. Capcom Cup, Capcom’s official international tournament held in Burlingame, San Francisco, peered up the best fighters from around the world to compete for 20 grand in prize money for Super Street Fighter 4: AE v.2012, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Street Fighter X Tekken. The tournament started off very interesting with a hyped for Super Street Fighter AE where HORI player Sako’s Evil Ryu faced AGE NYChris G’s Sakura. Sako defeated Chris G 3-2 to earn his dominance for the tournament that then lead to his victory as he faced DS/MAD CATZ Player Xian’s Gen in Grand finals with a clean sweep of 3-0 winning $ 6,000.

Next up was the most hyped sections of the tournament and that of course, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Clash of Titans was the theme for the match ups, as the winner of Ultimate Marvel vs., Capcom 3 would face Evolution 2013 UMvC3 winner , Empire Arcadia Player, Flocker for an additional $1,000 if they defeat him. Team After Glow Elite’s NY Chris G, a dominant competitor in the scene of UMvC3 defeated legends such as Justin Wong and others within the match up to then face IFC Yipes in Finals for the win. Notable performances include Empire Arcadia’s IFC Yipes who has received flak from the Fighting Game Community that he is now a “washed up commentator”. Yipes proved all the naysayers wrong with a stellar performance placing second, showing that Mr. Curly Mustache is still the face of Marvel vs. Capcom scene.

Street Fighter X Tekken became a proven ground among the competitors of who will dethrone the 2 time EVO and Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Champion, INFILTRATION from South Korea. EMP’s Tamp Bison, the most notable for sending INFILTRATION to losers at Final Round Tournament in Atlanta, came close but was defeated and came in second to INFILTRATION.

“I love the direction of Capcom’s Cup. The whole professional atmosphere adds legitimacy to eSports. It’s why me and my teammates at Empire Arcadia like Yipes, NuckleDu and Flocker play so hard.” – Dexter “EMP Tampa Bison” James
