NVIDIA has stepped out from behind the scenes to place their stamp in eSports with World of Tanks tournaments. The playoffs for the NVIDIA GeForce eSports World of Tanks Veteran’s Day 1-Million Gold Charity Division, a North American 3-tank Amateur tournament, has culminated a 1 million in-game gold prize pool and a $10,000 donation by NVIDIA and Wargaming.net to the AMVETS National Service Foundation, is a non-profit giving support to veterans through various service programs, community and youth-oriented programs and free of charge representation before the Veterans Administration..
World of Tanks is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online (MMO) game that involves player vs. player gameplay of with each player controlling a tank or armored vehicle. The game is a big sensation in online competitive play and became an eSports game at the World Cyber Games in 2012. The game now has over 70 million registered players online.
To give a recap of the charity competition over 280 teams and over 800 players participated with 3 player teams in a Tier 4 competition with 1 million in Wargaming gold at stake amongst the top 128 placing teams. Gameplay began in early October with a seven round group play stage and finished with a thrilling 16 team single-elimination playoff bracket in late November.
The tournament focused on charity and the winnings included in game money. “River of Blood” took first place honors along with 300,000 in Wargaming gold following an intense best-of-three series against “Whatever” with “River of Blood” championing two games to one.

1st Place: River of Blood; 300,000 Wargaming in-game gold
2nd Place: Simposaurus Rex; 150,000 Wargaming in-game gold
3rd Place: Whatever; 78,000 Wargaming in-game gold
4th Place: CARRIED; 40,000 Wargaming in-game gold
