The PlayStation 4 trailer tops 2013’s list of YouTube’s trending gaming videos, but the Xbox One and Wii U are nowhere to be found on the list.
The second PlayStation video listed was the PS4’s 22-second response to the Xbox One’s original used game and game sharing system. Originally, it seemed that buying and selling used games outside of official retailers, game rentals, and sharing games with friends was going to be impossible with the Xbox One because games would be downloaded and locked to one account. Following weeks of gamer backlash, unclear responses from Microsoft, and videos like the Official PlayStation Used Game Instructional Video, Microsoft redesigned the way games would be linked to the Xbox One. The video’s spot on the list marks an important point in the competition for next-generation supremacy between Sony and Microsoft.
The list also contains two League of Legends videos. Over 32 million viewers watched LoL’s World Championship broadcast this year, showing an increase in the popularity of both the well-known MOBA and eSports in general. There were 8.5 million concurrent streamers of the championship, which is 300,000 more than the total number of people who watched the 2012 championships.
As many may expect, gameplay videos and trailers for some of the biggest AAA games of the year — Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto V and Battlefield 4 — are also on the list.
The list also features two videos from streamer PewDiePie and a Minecraft video, showing that independent gamers aren’t going to be outdone by the big gaming studios.

The list of the Top YouTube gaming videos looks like a slice of gaming history for 2013. 2013 itself is a very important year for gaming with the release of the next-generation consoles and breakthroughs in eSports popularity, so even if you’ve seen all of these videos in the past, it wouldn’t be inappropriate to watch them again and appreciate the changes that are happening in the video gaming world right now.
