System Mechanic Review

Manufacturer: Iolo Technologies

Price: $39.95 Now: Dirt Cheap

With all the bustle of spring and the nice weather upon us, it’s time to clean up all the winter clutter. First things first though, let’s get rid of all those unwanted programs and processes on your PC.

Is System Mechanic a program your computer needs?

Read our review to find out!

System mechanic is a program that you can use on your desktop or laptop to analyze all of the potential programs that are wrong with your computer. If you suffer from long boot up times or excess processes that slow your computer, then this program is just what you need.

After several months and years of using your computer (PC or laptop), data, cookies, and spyware can build up on your computer. This program is perfect to determine what your computer needs or doesn’t need.

System Mechanic scans your computer to analyze how the installed programs affect the performance of your computer. After this scan, it will give you a detailed report on the performance of your PC. You will then have the option of disabling those programs and processes in an effort to speed up your PC.

Most of the time, programs such as this, don’t do what they are supposed to. System Mechanic does everything and then some. System Mechanic provides a detailed and simple recommendation screen that even newcomers can learn quickly.

There are five categories with sub-sections that allow for easy access to your computer. In these categories, you will have the best-recommended advice for each process and program that should be scanned and cleared out of your computer.

It is a great feature because it makes the program so easy that even the most novices of computer users can get their PCs working much faster. The only problem that I have with the program is that it works too well. It works so well that it can have you deleting and stopping programs that you do need on your PC. Even though this is a great system if a user is unfamiliar with some of the processes on their PC, it can confuse them. However, System Mechanic works wonders from the moment you use it on your computer.

As you use System Mechanic, from time to time, you will notice the improvements on your computer.

In addition, you can look into each process and get recommendations based on what other people have on their PCs. The benefits of this program are its price and accessibility.

Pros:

Price

Easy to use

Improves performance

Cons:

Works too well with identifying programs

Final Thoughts:

In conclusion, System Mechanic is a great program that is wonderful to use just in time for some friendly spring-cleaning on your PC. It is helpful in optimizing performance and making sure your PC is up to par. If you need something new to fix up your PC this is definitely the way to go. A must buy for anyone looking for a spring cleaning program. If you want to try this out for yourself get a free download here.

Final Score:

I give System Mechanic 9 out of 10.

A review unit of System Mechanic was provided for this review.

Young Justice Legacy is a game based on the former Saturday morning cartoon show on the DC block. The show has since then been canceled, but thankfully the game is still is still in development. Young Justice Legacy explains the five year gap in the story and what happened to our heroes since then.

Fans of the show will definitely want to check this game out. There are many answers that will be given in this five year explanation. .

GamerFitNation’s own Antwand Pearman recently got the chance to interview Doug Panter, director of marketing for Young Justice Legacy. In this interview Antwand and Doug talk all things Young Justice. They discuss the cartoon show that was cancelled, as well as the game’s story, and the how the five year gap comes into effect.

The game is looking promising to say the very least and with fan favorite characters that DC fans will recognize, its a title that is worth checking out. The game will release later this year sometime in September according to Doug. Fans need to mark their calendars because this looks like a title that you should not miss.

Puppeteer is the latest PlayStation 3 exclusive releasing later this fall. We recently got a chance to have some of our questions answered by Gavin Moore. Moore is the Creative Director from Japan Studios. Puppeteer is a game that is accessible to both causal and hardcore gamers. You can play with the Dualshock as well as the PlayStation Move controller.

Check out the interview posted below. Enjoy!

GamerFitNation: What is Puppeteer?

Gavin Moore: Puppeteer is a unique platform game set inside a magical theater Instead of moving through the game world, the world moves around you as you progress on your fantastical adventure.

So you always stay center stage and the sets rotate in and out bringing you to strange and wonderful places that are always designed to surprise and keep you playing.

Our hero Kutaro (Koo-tah-ru) is spirited away to the moon by an evil king, who traps his soul in a wooden puppet. Kutaro soon angers the evil king who eats his head and throws him away. But this is not the end for our hero, who soon finds that he can use various objects as heads.

With the help of a cantankerous old witch and her cat he sets out to steal a pair of magical scissors, defeat the evil king’s generals and eventually face the evil king himself. All of this to get his head back and find his way home.

GamerFitNation: You know this late in the PS3’s console cycle some would say it is very risky producing a new IP. What were your initial thoughts when you were releasing this game to the public for the first time?

Gavin Moore: I think these days that it is risky producing new IP at any time to be perfectly honest. You can’t think like that as a game creator because you must always be pushing yourself to deliver something new and exciting. Actually this year we at Sony are dropping a lot of new and exciting IP.

There are a lot of PS3 users out there in the world and just because some say that this is the end of the PS3 cycle doesn’t actually mean it is true. Yes, the PS4 is coming along fast and furious but a lot of people will still be playing their PS3’s. As a creator and a gamer I think it is important that we are still supporting the PS3.

When you show your game for the first time to the public, you are full of trepidation. Will they like it? Will they appreciate it for what it is? It is hard to let something go when you have been working on it for so long. Just like a child though, there comes a time when it is ready to leave the nest and you just have to let it go and pray that it will be OK.

Also there is a certain sense of fulfillment; finally people will also be able to have the fun that we have been having making Puppeteer.

GamerFitNation: What is the overall goal of this title and what can fans expect?

Gavin Moore: When I started this project we set out to reawaken the imaginations of children large and small. I had found myself as a creator pushing the boundaries of technology.

With each new console came more power and we were striving to create the most realistic worlds that we could. Ultimately we had fallen into a trap. By chasing these realistic worlds we had limited what we could actually create because it had to be real.

So I set out to completely change the way I worked, instead of using technology to make realistic hair and reflections in characters eyes, I wanted to use that power to free my imagination. To build a world were anything can happen.

This is what Puppeteer is and what the fans can expect. It is a dark fairy tale in the mold of Terry Gilliam or Tim Burton where anything can happen and will.

I think that people are going to be surprised at the situations that they will find themselves in, whether they are humorous, dangerous or just exciting and sometimes downright confounding. There is nothing quite like fighting a 200 foot tall tiger that you defeat by cutting out his teeth.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory

Publisher: NIS

Developer: Idea Factory/Compile Heart

Console: PlayStation 3

Other Platforms: N/A

Release Date: March 21, 2013

Genre: JRPG

Price: $49.99

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory is one of those JRPG titles that you won’t want to miss out on. Gamindustri is in need of help and our female heroines are the ones to save the land. Whether it is through their devastating CPU powers or playful demeanor, they are ready to save Gamindustri. Can they stay motivated long enough to do the job? Well, that remains to be seen.

Read our review and see where your loyalties lie!

Welcome to Gamindustri! The fictional world of the gaming industry is at your fingertips. The game’s storyline has you portraying the main character, Neptune. This frivolous and lazy character is the basis for our adventure. In Gamindustri there are four neighboring nations: Lastation, Leanbox, Lowee, and Planeptune.

In the beginning of the game, the character Neptune is transported into another dimension that is reminiscent of the 1980′s Gamindustri. In this dimension, there is a group of individuals known as the seven sages. The seven sages want to disrupt the rule of CPUs. As Neptune, you go on another adventure to save Gamindustri. In this quest, you will find many familiar enemies that resemble the current gaming trends. You will come across Pirachu, the rat, who might remind you of a character within the current Nintendo franchise.

The dialogue in Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory is very comical. In fact, you will recognize parodies while you play. There will be no shortage of laughter as you play this game. There is so much to learn. The game has a teenybopper feel to it that you can also see whole-heartedly as you play.

The story plays out through cut scenes with the ability to skip longer scenes. Even though you may skip scenes, you can also stop and go back and scroll through the previous conversations.

To be brief, Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory game play is simplistic. There are towns, but you don’t necessarily have to walk around. You pick which areas you progress to during the game. Another fun fact—there are characters in each of the towns that parody current console mascots.

You can transform into the girls’ deadly CPU forms during any battle. This gives you much help if the battles take a turn for the worse. Fights can get hectic at times. Although you can transform, level grinding is often necessary.

Though you can walk around in dungeons and battle enemies, there seems to be something missing in Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory. It feels like much of the gameplay is taken out of the user’s hands in regards to exploring towns and dungeons. These areas feel linear. Although you can find hidden areas and items, there isn’t much to find in towns because you can’t readily explore them. There are quests that you can pick up through the town’s guild. This allows you to get extra money and items to construct new weapons.

The sound and voice acting is where the game falls short. The voice acting sounds very annoying at times. It can also be comical at times, but hearing key phrases repeatedly really gets on my nerves.

Most of the Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory story is portrayed through cut scenes. What will really baffle you is that there are some cut scenes with voice acting and some without. I really don’t understand the purpose for this. Many of these scenes last in the upwards of five to ten minutes as you have to read and scroll through. You do have the option to read each of them or skip them, if it pleases you.

However, there is a benefit to reading through the scenes. Later in the game, you will have to answer questions that relate to the scenes you saw previously. The information in the scenes will allow you to get additional items and the chance to win millions of dollars towards the end of the game.

Pros:

Combat is fun

Story is hilarious

Cons:

Sound

Voice acting is annoying

Final Thoughts:

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory is one of those games you just have to play. Its take on the Gamindustri is comical and fun for gaming aficionados.

Final Score:

Developer: SCE San Diego Studio

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Platform: PlayStation 3, PS Vita

Release Date: March 5, 2013

Genre: Sports

Price: $59.99

MLB 13 The Show is the latest title from the number one selling baseball franchise. After years of being on top, can this baseball dynasty continue its record of creating new and interesting gameplay?

Read our review to find out!

MLB 13 The Show is the newest title in the franchise. You might not expect the game to innovate because there is no direct competition for the title. However, this is not the case. MLB 13 The Show features several new features, such as new online modes and a beginner mode to name just a few.

Although this is just a baseball game, it feels like much more. If you are a baseball fantasy junky, you will be pleased to know that this title has it all. Whether it is cross platform play with the PS Vita or starting a dynasty mode with your Red Sox. This is a fun game to play—start to finish.

The gameplay in MLB 13 The Show is much more accessible than its predecessor. The gameplay allows for easier pitching and hitting controls. This is an improvement over the previous title. Pitching and hitting is one of the main areas that I didn’t like in the previous MLB titles. I felt it was too hard and convoluted in batting, while pitching was simple.

Now both areas seem to be fixed, but it appears to have ushered in a new problem—fielding. Fielding balls can be troublesome at first. Each face button is attached to a base and can confuse you when throwing an opposing player out.

However, that’s the only issue that’s problematic for this game. Games are fun to play as you can hop into a game at the drop of a hat. You can play games that are happening currently, which brings that sense of realism I mentioned before. After you get the hang of pitching and batting, you will never want to stop. It’s that fun hearing the crack of your own bat.

The animations and presentation are the perfect way to help ring in the baseball season. The attention to detail and accuracy of the baseball fields really allows you to feel like you’re actually on the field or at a game. The commentary is pleasant and really brings that true to life feel of baseball. Players look like their real lifelike counterparts and its fun hearing/seeing your players do what they do best.

You can get details during the game on your player. These details range from fatigue to the blatantly obvious. It’s just another reminder that this is a game that you can really enjoy.

Pros:

Improved batting and pitching

Sense of realism

Cons:

Fielding

Final Thoughts:

MLB 13 The Show is a great baseball game. It improves upon its predecessor in several ways from gameplay to additional added features. The graphics and gameplay are better, but the fielding feels a little outdated. This is a welcomed iteration to the MLB franchise for any fan. Well played Sony, well played.

Final Score:

MLB The Show 13 gets a safe 8 out of 10.

A review copy was provided by PlayStation for review.

BattleBlock Theater is going to be available next week. This was confirmed in a recent trailer sent out by The Behemoth. Battleblock Theater is a quirky puzzle platformer that is just down right fun to play. Battleblock Theater has a unique story-line that is absurdly funny. The game has been in development for quite some time. I mean there are so many things about this game that you just wouldn’t believe.

Recently, I got to the chance to interview Aaron from The Behemoth on Battleblock Theater. Aaron is the Lead Level Designer on the game. I have to say after playing the levels he created for the game, he has a great imagination. The game increases in difficulty as you progress and levels become more complex and diverse as you try to figure out where to go. Battleblock Theater is a significantly longer than previous games as there are levels specifically made for co-op and single player. If you couple that with the challenge modes in the game there is a plethora of content to last gamers a good long time.

If you are interested in DLC, you will be pleased to know that there will be DLC available at a later date. Enjoy the video posted below!

We recently got the chance to have some of our questions answered by Nick Doerr, script editor at NIS about the game. We found out many details that you may want to know. Read below about the game and be sure to check out the game.

GamerFitNation: What is Hyperdimension Neptunia?

Nick Doerr: Hyperdimension Neptunia is a franchise that takes place in a fictional version of the game industry, aptly dubbed Gamindustri, and is a comedy. It takes game consoles and personifies them as deities who happen to be cute, adorable, or downright gorgeous girls, and then pits them against each other as a nod to the “console wars.” Due to the nature of the game, as in focusing on pop culture, Internet humor, and meta-discussions, there is no fourth wall, which leads to a pretty interesting style of storytelling. Nothing is sacred, and everything is silly.

GamerFitNation:Tell us a little bit about the gameplay for the game. Is this turn based, strategy, action?

Nick Doerr: The game is turn-based, but the battle maps are free-roaming so you can move and position your fighters as you see fit during their turn. It offers elements of strategy that way, so you can box enemies in, or prevent them from flanking you and taking out your healer.

GamerFitNation: What makes it different from other RPG’s?

Nick Doerr: Is it enough to say the humor? The ability to not take itself so darn melodramatic and serious? It’s a game meant to be played to put you, or keep you, in a good mood without requiring a whole lot of intellectual debate or philosophizing. Basically, a light snack of laughs delivered by a lot of cute anime girls.

GamerFitNation: RPG fans love themselves a good story with great characters that will immerse them in the experience. What is unique about this game that they won’t find anywhere else?

Nick Doerr: I think the characters are unique. Maybe they still hold to some standard archetypes and tropes, but the way they talk to each other and tackle the problems they come across is nothing short of amazing. They are always joking, or talking directly to the player, or commenting on game design in a way to keep the player smiling and wanting to progress.

GamerFitNation: How has fan feedback on the franchise contributed to the development of the franchise going forward?

Nick Doerr: I think if you look at the evolution of the franchise from the first title to mk2, fan feedback is always taken seriously. When the game takes place in “Gamindustri,” you almost HAVE to keep the fans in mind. Without them, there would be no “Gamindustri,” after all.

GamerFitNation: What is new and different in this game?

Nick Doerr: Compared to the previous entries, you’ll notice better character models, new outfits, more dungeons, new characters to recruit, a Scout and Flag system meant to change the rewards you get from dungeons and battles, and Challenges that each character can accomplish to increase their stats! There’s a lot to do in Gamindustri!

GamerFitNation:If there is one thing that you can tell our readers about why they should want to play this game what would it be?

Nick Doerr: If you follow gaming news, or have been a long-time gaming addict, this game is for you. “Fanservice” tends to make people think about panty shots and whatnot, but this game is fanservice for a different reason. It is made for fans of gaming. Please give it a try!

GamerFitNation: Are there any plans for DLC after release?

Nick Doerr: Yes, lots of DLC is incoming! Items and outfits and characters and events and battles and all sorts of great stuff!

GamerFitNation: Finally, there are a many things I probably have forgotten to ask. What would you like to tell fans about the game?

Nick Doerr: There will be a nonexistent prize for those who submit their favorite quotes. Winners will be chosen at random. Many will enter, none will win, but it’s the thought that counts, right? But in all seriousness, we all just hope that everyone will enjoy the game as much as we loved working on it!

GamerFitNation: Thanks for taking the time out to answer some questions. Have a great day!

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory is out now exclusively for the PlayStation 3. You can expect a review from me sometime in the near future. Until then, I hope you enjoyed the interview.

The Last of Us is the newest game from one of the most well known developers of the current generation. Naughty Dog has a formula that other developers can only hope to recreate. In their newest title (The Last of Us) you play as Joel and Ellie as they go on an epic journey from east to west coast. In this post apocalyptic world you will have to find resources and conserve ammo to defeat the infected humans.

You will come across clickers which are enemies that will detect you by the sound you make. There are also other enemies that can detect you by sight. It will be up to you, on how you proceed which will provide for some very innovative gameplay.

In this interview GamerFitNation’s Antwand BlackBible Pearman interviews Eric Monacelli from Naughty Dog on The Last of Us. After some hands on with the game GamerFitNation got the chance to ask Eric what the deal was with the tension, horror, and tone of the game. This is a departure from what Naughty Dog is used to and makes for some pretty intuitive gameplay.

While the multiplayer wasn’t shown at Pax East, Eric talked a little bit about it and what fans can expect to see in the future. Development is coming along and they are looking to get the multiplayer in the hands of fans soon. Hopefully before the game releases. The Last of Us releases June 14th.

Enough talking, check out the interview posted after the break.

Co-op…sweet Co-op. We have all played some type of co-op in the past couple of years. Whether you are at home with a friend, or gaming online—you’ve played with someone else. However, there are things that certain individuals do that will irk you when playing. Well, at least I believe so. I’ve classified co-op styles into 3 different categories: Co-op, Bro-op, or No-op.

What is your co-op style?

First, we have the Co-op player or cooperative player. Essentially, this is where you and a player work as a team. Now, this is the easiest to explain. Both players share the workload of the adventure that they are going through. Both players take on the same amount of enemies and share the equipment that they find throughout the levels.

Each player helps the other one out—giving items and sacrificing the selfish tendencies for the greater good of the team. The partner revives you as soon as you fall incapacitated or as soon as humanly possible. Each player works as one unit, and you know that no matter where you go, that person has got your back.

This is one of the best ways to play a co-op game.

Second, we have the Bro-op player. He is the partner that always takes one for the team. If you’re playing any type of co-op game whether it’s Dead Space 3 to Gears of War he always takes a hit for the team. Whether it is running shamelessly in front of a whole army of enemies to get that one item that will save you all. He could even be that guy in Black Ops that dies trying to get the max ammo on round 30 so that you all will survive.

He is the unsung hero of the game, and he looks out not only for himself, but also for his fellow gamer. He might not have the most kills, but he is the player that makes sure the gears keep churning. When it’s all said and done, you might not have completed the level without his disregard for life. That’s how you know you can treat him like a brother.

He is a true person that looks out for you and your interest at heart.

Third, we have the No-op player. This player leaves his partner to fend for him/her self. They leave their teammate unattended in times of desperate battles. Then, after the battle, the No-op player believes it was the other person’s fault. They blame them for everything that went wrong, when in actuality—it was truly their own fault.

They are the selfish gamer. They don’t share items or equipment that could potentially help you get that trophy/achievement that you are trying to get. They skip through cut scenes and progress through the story in an effort to pass through the game. They simply want to say, “I beat the game” regardless of the consequences. It makes the game completely un-fun and annoying as you play with them. You should (probably) find a better person to play with.

Is this a terrible way to play a co-op game? Or not?

We all know someone like this. The real question is—which category do you fall under? What type of co-op player are you?

Post your comments below. I would love to hear what type of player you are.
