There’s no easy way out — exercise is necessary when you’re trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. With your busy schedule ahead of you, exercise can easily be overlooked. Incorporating exercise into your daily lifestyle, and starting your day with a morning workout, is one of the best ways to stay active. While you can exercise at anytime, starting your morning with physical activity sets a tone for the pace of your day.

 

Morning WorkoutConsistency

The body loves routine. People who exercise first thing in the morning tend to stick to this habit because you get your exercise in before other distractions happen. After a long day at work, it can be hard to muster up the energy to hit the gym. And as the day goes by, you might find that meetings and other events are pulling you away from the gym. When you workout in the morning, there is no reason to reschedule anything because you’re incorporating exercise before your day starts. Also, gyms are typically less crowded early in the morning, so you can avoid the annoying gym crowd and focus on your workout.

 

Productivity

Exercising early in the morning jumpstarts your body. You’ll feel more energized throughout the rest of the day, and your endorphins will get going, increasing your productivity. Feeling more awake throughout the day will help prepare you for tackling the day ahead and give you an extra energy boost. Working out can increase your mental clarity throughout the day as well.

 

Diet

By starting your day on a healthy note, you will feel invigorated and want to approach your food choices differently throughout the rest of the day. After feeling proud of myself for getting up early and exercising, I personally feel encouraged to make healthy food choices. Your elevated mood will encourage you to continue your positive choices and help you pick energizing foods.

 

If you’re not a morning person, there are solutions! Instead of lugging yourself to the gym, try a great workout DVD or a circuit routine at home. Put together a motivating morning playlist to get you excited for the workout ahead, and set your workout clothes out the night before. Maybe after a month of doing your morning workouts, you treat yourself to a reward, like a new dress you’ve had your eye on.
