Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is coming to PlayStation 4 sometime in 2016, which gives you plenty of time to look like Nathan Drake before you take control of him. As the last entry in the Uncharted series, the game is gearing up to be one of the biggest finales in gaming series.
Naughty Dog says the game is Nathan Drake’s “greatest adventure yet and will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.” While your life may not get that intense, it’s always great to be in great physical form, and to keep yourself healthy.
Here are the three top workouts to help you stay in Nathan Drake shape!
Long and short sprints are a great way to get your cardio up. Having a healthy set of lungs is the best to way to be able to run from enemies that are trying to kill you (well, maybe not something that extreme).
It’s always best to alternate your cardio as well, getting some laps in a pool (because you never know when you’ll be leaping into a river to hide), or even some simple stair climbs (because old tombs always have stairs).
The best thing to remember when it comes to any kind of cardio workout is your endurance. Nathan Drake doesn’t scale walls for fun, but maybe you should! However, having great endurance isn’t enough without strength training.
As long as you get in at least a half hour of strength training a day, you will have nothing to worry about, but if you want to do it the Nathan Drake way, pull ups are the start of a good workout.
Nathan Drake’s arm strength is what keeps him alive, and what gets him though most of his journey. But arm strength is nothing if you don’t do a set amount of push-ups.
Doing 5 sets of 10 pull ups and 15 push-ups will get your arms in Nathan Drake form. And don’t forget to throw in some weight lifting to really add that resistance and get your arms ready to scale walls and climb ropes.
I’m not talking about just running here, this about getting some quick footwork and making sure you’re able to leap and keep your feet glued to a wall when you’re hanging on from one hand. Nathan Drake has a hard time with that, so if you are able to do it, you’ll do better than Nathan Drake can any day!
It’s not just about brute force, but about the stamina you have when breathing underwater, scaling 50 foot high walls, or delving deep into a tomb long thought forgotten. The best thing to do for your feet is to work out without shoes. If your feet become strong on their own, they become twice as strong in shoes. Resistance is key.
By trying to walk on the balls of your feet and balancing on the tip of your toes, your balance will increase, your endurance will increase, and you will be able to do more than Nathan Drake ever could!
There you have it! Three great ways to get into Nathan Drake shape (and better!). Don’t forget that eating right is also part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but if you can outrun Nathan Drake, you can do anything (except maybe take on a band of pirate, but you can always try).
