Today, 2K revealed the official tracklist for the NBA 2K16 soundtrack. Every year many players look to see what new features are added as far as gameplay and so forth, but another important aspect from 2K many can attest to is who is on the soundtrack for the game.
2K Sports has revealed what is said to be the most expansive musical collection in NBA 2K franchise history. Curated by the music industry’s most well-known producers today, DJ Mustard, DJ Khaled and the legendary DJ Premier. The soundtrack features more than 50 tracks available in six in-game playlists which is a first for the franchise.
NBA 2K16’s partnership with DJ Mustard, DJ Khaled and DJ Premier brings with it two custom tracks from each producer, for a total of six new tracks produced specifically for this year’s game. The new tracks feature some of today’s hottest up and coming artists, including Papoose, Ace Hood, Vado, Kent Jones and RJ and help to create the most diverse musical experience in NBA 2K soundtrack history.
Last year, I must say the direction was everywhere and the reception of the soundtrack produced by Pharell was not favorable. Which in my opinion was a surprise because the hit beatmaker has always delivered hits, but the soundtrack for NBA 2K15 felt like let’s make some residuals off some of my work instead of curating a Basketball feel sountrack to get player’s pumped.
Let’s hope with the different perspectives of these heavy hitting DJ’s who always have to pay close attention to what is hot in the streets will craft an untouched nor rivaled soundtrack for NBA 2K16.
Here is the full playlist below from some heavy hitting Hip Hop DJs along with the legendary DJ Premiere.
